Biography
My name is John Klinger and I am the Superintendent of Tawas Area Schools. I was born and raised in Tawas and graduated in 1994. My collegiate career took me to Michigan State for two years where I pursued my love of baseball and worked toward my education degree. In 1996, I transferred to Spring Arbor College earning my BA in Elementary Education with minors in Science and Physical Education, while having the opportunity to play collegiate baseball. In 1999, I moved to Alcona, and was hired to teach Physical Education and coach several sports including football, basketball, and baseball. While working in Alcona, I pursued my Masters in Educational Leadership Degree at Saginaw Valley State University, which I completed in 2007. In the fall of 2014, my passion for leadership was realized when I applied and was hired as Principal of Clara Bolen Elementary School. In June of 2018, I became the Middle School and High School and enjoyed the experience of working with another dedicated staff and group of students. And finally, in September of 2019, my professional goal of becoming Superintendent became a reality when I was selected to represent Tawas Area Schools in this capacity. I am proud and excited to work in a wonderful district with a staff who is dedicated to helping all students learn academically, mature emotionally, progress socially, and develop skills that will improve the quality of their lives. Go Braves!
