Hello Brave Families!  I am so excited to join the team at Tawas Area Schools!  This is my seventh year teaching and I formerly taught at West Branch-Rose City Area Schools and Whittemore-Prescott Area Schools.  I will have the pleasure of teaching third grade this year alongside my mother-in-law Becky VanderVeen until she retires in November.

I received my Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Saginaw Valley State University.  I play clarinet and have taught band, choir, and elementary music for the last six years.  In 2023 I completed coursework to add my Elementary Education Endorsement.

I grew up in Tawas and graduated from Tawas Area High School where I was an active member in the band and choir programs.  I met my now-husband Cole in band and we moved back to Tawas after college where we got married.  We live now in Tawas with our daughter Rebekah and our two cats Merry and Pippin.  In my free time I enjoy quilting, reading, gardening, camping, singing, playing instruments, spending time with family, playing board games, and taking pictures.

My favorite part of teaching is getting to know my students' interests and reading with them.  I'm so excited to teach your student(s) this year!
