I grew up in the Detroit area, and my family spent weekends and summers in Tawas. I often felt like I had two lives, and I loved them both. After earning a BA in English from Michigan State and my MAT at Wayne State University,  I began teaching Secondary English Language Arts in Houston, Texas in 1994. Soon after, I met my husband Jim, and a few years later, our son Liam was born. Life in Houston was busy and full. 30 years went by in a flash. We knew we wanted to head back to the most beautiful part of the country and arrived in Tawas in 2022.

In 2025, I was blessed to join the English team at Tawas High School teaching 9th grade Literature and Composition. I am thrilled to share my love of literature and writing with my students. I absolutely adore being a Brave!
