I grew up in the Detroit area, and my family spent weekends and summers in Tawas. I often felt like I had two lives, and I loved them both. After earning a BA in English from Michigan State and my MAT at Wayne State University,  I began teaching Secondary English Language Arts in Houston, Texas in 1994. Soon after, I met my husband Jim, and a few years later, our son Liam was born. Life in Houston was busy and full. 28 years went by in a flash. 

In 2022, I was able to retire from Texas teaching as my son graduated high school. We moved to the Sand Lake area, and I was home! This year, I have decided to further my own education to become certified in Special Education. I am looking so forward to co-teaching with the Secondary ELA teachers and working with teachers and students at Clara Bolen.
